This Past Year's Conference
Date: November 2016
Location: Washington, D.C.
This school year DECA invited all the chapters from the states east of the Mississippi, the Northeast and Southern Region, to the DECA Power Trip. This exciting conference took place in November 2016, in Washington, D.C.
Students participated in career track workshops which combined hands on activities, mentoring with experts, presentations, and mini-projects that help them develop their goals for the future. Fantastic speakers with motivational drive, and great opening and closing sessions. As an added bonus, students were able to participate in a mock DECA competitive event, with judges offering tips and support. Students earning high scores even received awards at the closing session.
This was a terrific conference with more to do in the Washington area than our participants could ever hope to experience. After flying in to Reagan Airport, students were able to do a quick city tour, settle in their hotel, and begin to prep for their workshop presentation on "Making Your DECA Chapter Exceptional." The workshop was a success, and the students then participated in many other leadership workshops and activities of the conference. Hopefully we will be back one day to see and do more in this exciting city. The DECA conference was very valuable, and a lot of warm memories remain!
